Lisa has created history by completing a circumnavigation of Antarctica between the latitudes of 45° and 60° South.
However, Lisa is still racing on the Antarctica Cup Ocean Race track to defeat Fedor Konyukhovs time of 102 set in 2008. For Lisa to defeat this time she must arrive in Albany before the 2nd June which she is currently on track to do.
The Antarctica Cup Ocean Race (ACOR) was created by Robert (Bob) Williams. In breaking the record Lisa will be ratified by the World Speed Sailing Council as the world record holder for that race. (Another world record for Lisa).
In founding the ACOR Bob had made a beautifully crafted glass trophy – The Antarctica Cup – as a perpetual trophy. Bob will present the cup to Lisa on arrival in Albany as he did so 14 years ago to Fedor.
The cup was created by world renowned glass artist Kevin Gordon formly from Fremantle but now residing in Red Hill, Victoria. You will see at the top of the neck a beautiful round coloured glass ball on which the cup sits.
The colours and patterns within the ball represent the Southern Aurora.
